Stowe School Athletics

Dear Parents and Athletes,
The Fall 2008 Stowe Middle High School Sports season is about to begin and there are a few things that we would like to remind you of.

Prior to participating in practices or games each athlete must hand the following into the HS or MS office (between the hours of 8:00AM and 1:00PM). It is preferred that paperwork be handed well before the practices begin.

Proof of a current physical, within the last year.

  1. Proof of insurance
  2. Emergency contact form & information

Coaches will NOT accept paperwork at practice!

Start-Up Dates!

August 11th

HS Boys Soccer practice: M-F 4:00 on the JV field. Conditioning sessions will be announced, they will take place in various locations around town, and informational letters will be distributed by the coach. Team Placement (V/JV/ F) will be announced at a later date.

HS Girls Soccer Practice: M-F 4:30 to 7:30 on the Varsity and mid field. Break between practices. Sunday 8/17th a Birmingham soccer retreat, scrimmage @ Hartford 9:30am on the 18th.

Scrimmages on Thursday 8/21 and Thursday 8/28.

Stowe HS/MS Fall Sports Update

Welcome Back! We hope you are enjoying the rest of your summer. In order to help us this year, please make sure that you have all necessary paperwork into the HS and MS Office before you sign up for a team. You need to make sure your physical is up-to-date, and you fill out the necessary insurance forms before you step onto the field. Please direct all Athletic inquiries to Rick Farnham and Brian Kaplan, as Tori is out on Maternity Leave.

STOWE TENNIS IS #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS! Stowe Boys' and Girls' Tennis Teams each won the finals the other day! The Boys' beat Woodstock 7-0 and the Girls' beat #1 seed Burr and Burton 5-2. This is so exciting to have both teams victorious this year. Coaches Dick Bashaw, Kieran Killigrew, Joanna Graves, and Heidi Vietz should all feel VERY proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to the Baseball and Softball teams!

Baseball and softball both move forward in the playoff season having upset higher seeded schools. Softball Plays on Saturday at Hazen 4:30, Bus 2:30 ES.

Tennis Updates

Boys Tennis Finals, Woodstock at Stowe has been postponed due tot eh weather. It has been rescheduled for Monday June 9th, 3:00Pm at the Stowehof.

Girls Tennis Semi Finals, Montpelier at Stowe, will take place today, June 6th. it will be held at Topnotch beginning at 2:30 PM.

Boys Baseball and Girls Softball Pairings

Stowe Baseball, seated #12, will play Enosburg #5 Thursday June 5 at 4:30 at Enosburg. The bus will leave at 2:15. Girls Softball, seated #13, will play Poultney #4 Thursday June 5 at 4:30 in Poultney. The bus leave time will be at 12 noon.

History Making Tennis Team!

This year is the first time in the history that one school has had all players in the finals and finalist positions in the State Tournament. Stowe should be extremely proud of this outstanding achievement by the Boys Tennis Team. Coach Dick Bashaw stated, "It was the strangest feeling sitting there and not coaching!" Coleman Gay played Colin Tasi in singles, and Jeremy and Gregg Lauchtrupp played Tyler Murphy and Luke Grovsvenor in the doubles. Congratulations to you all!

Boys Tennis Match Location change Tuesday 6/3

Boys tennis, Montpelier at Stowe has been move to an indoor sight. It will be held at the First and Fitness Windridge facility in Jeffersonville, 3:30 PM.

Directions: Go through the Notch on rt 108. that teh Y in Jeffersonville take a right. The facility will be the immediate right hand turn after the 158 Main Street Restaurant.
